SMF Conduct and Dress Code
SMF’s code of conduct shall be based on Christian love, as written in the teachings of Holy Scripture.
SMF families should keep the commandment given to us by Our Lord Jesus Christ as our rules for conduct: treat one another as you would like to be treated, and love God above all things.
Therefore, SMF families should be moved by charity and respect:
· Respond toward others in an appropriate manner as Christ would have you do. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Phil 2:4
· Serve others. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10
· Encourage, not discourage, others. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10
In regards to guidelines for appropriate dress, SMF members may refer to the catechism of the Catholic Church as an appropriate reference. In the CCC the concept of modesty is summed up in paragraph 2533: Purity of heart requires the modesty which is patience, decency, and discretion. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person.
· When in a SMF-sponsored event, members should dress in a manner as to honor God. Clothes should reflect the event one is attending, such as Mass, a recreational event or an evening event.
· Girls should wear modest outfits; skirts/dresses length should not be higher than right above the knee, with no exposed midriffs or low necklines.
· Boys should have neat, respectful and well-groomed appearance.
